MARMITE 500G

Marmite is a savoury spread made by concentrated yeast extract, a by-product of brewing beer. It originated in 1902 and is still based in the same factory in Burton-on-Trent in the UK. It has a very famous slogan: ‘You either love it or hate it’, and it certainly splits opinion!

The taste and texture is of course, very unique and distinctive. It is described as salty, earthy, umami-like, with a viscous texture, almost similar to very thick soy sauce. It is also extremely healthy. It is a vegan product containing B vitamins including B12, and niacin, folate and riboflavin, making it a very popular product with our vegetarian and vegan customers.

It is most used as a spread for toast, crackers, sandwiches and can even be used as a dip for vegetables. It can also be used to marinade meat, add to a stew, gravy or soup for a saltier, richer taste. Once you’re hooked on Marmite, there’s no going back!
